The Balm: Nude 'Tude v. Nude Dude

To avoid being too repetitive, I thought I'd review both of The Balm's “Nude” palettes at once by comparing them. For those of who who aren't aware, the Nude 'Tude palette came out first. The Nude Dude palette could be considered a spin-off.

Packaging & Value
Both palettes come in a palette with a large mirror, a small double-ended brush, and 12 eyeshadows. There is a thin cardboard sleeve that each palette slides into. I do not love the brushes. They are nice for applying eyeliner, but they are a little too stiff for eyeshadow. The Nude 'Tude palette's eyeshadows are angled to cover the women's bodies, while the Nude Dude's eyeshadows are all perfectly straight. The other small difference I've noticed is that the Nude 'Tude palette comes with almost two more grams of product. I absolutely adore the artwork in both palettes. Each palette is $36 on The Balm's website, which is a great price in my opinion. You can also get a 10% off promo code by signing up on their website.

Application & Longevity
All of these eyeshadows are silky smooth to apply and are long-lasting with a primer. In the Nude 'Tude palette, I thought Sassy and Sleek weren't very pigmented. In Nude Dude, the color Fabulous was very light and not buildable enough for my liking. I think that Nude 'Tude is more of a true “nude” palette and Nude Dude is more for dramatic looks. I consider them my day and night palettes. These swatches are done over a face primer. They come out much more vibrant over an eyeshadow primer.

Results & Recommendations

Both of these palettes are lovely. If I had to choose, I would probably pick the Nude 'Tude. As it is with novels, nothing can beat the original. In reality, you'll have to pry both of these palettes from my cold, dead fingers. I would absolutely repurchase both of these palettes.

  1. Do these post to the UK? If I could only afford one, which colours should I purchase?

    1. It looks like they do, but it's through a website called Super Drug. The palettes there are £31.99 which I think equals out to $41 USD. I would recommend Nude 'Tude if you prefer more subtle looks and Nude Dude if you like your eye makeup to be more dramatic. It's really up to you. Thank you for the comment!
